About the Role:

Redwood Parents Nursery School is currently looking for a new Pre-K teacher to join our incredible teaching staff within our wonderful community. We are looking for a teacher who can create and maintain an open, creative and positive learning environment for parents and children.

Duties and Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

  • Maintains general supervision of school during class hours (Mon-Thurs 12:30PM 3:30PM) and provides the educational direction of the class.
  • Guides parents towards a variety of techniques and provides parents with the tools for working with children.
  • Maintains own class curriculum using curriculum created in partnership with the director. Keep individual children folders, including developmental descriptions and observations as needed for planning appropriate activities, as a means of facilitating optimal development for each child and to use as an aid in communication with parents.
  • Teach parent education night classes for the class once a month or as scheduled by the director at the beginning of the school year. Night Class sessions run 2 hours each for the Pre-K class
  • Attends at least one workshop or class per year to further personal growth and development.
  • Keep written curriculum plans that are based on child development and assessment of individual needs and interests.
  • Responsible for holding parent-teacher conferences twice a year.
  • Implementation of a positive behavioral intervention and support (PBIS), such as Bucket Fillers to support classroom management.
  • Continue with RPNS Pre-K traditions, such as the Parents’ luncheon and gingerbread making
  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of the children in the classroom.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • A combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities to qualify/li>
  • Education & Experience: *Education equivalent to high school graduation required. Just be at least 18 years of age. Completion of Early Childhood Education (ECE) units highly preferred. Experience in a preschool setting is highly desirable. Fluent written and verbal communication skills are required • Licenses & Certificates
  • Knowledge of: current early education practices, preschool recreation activities, stages of development of preschoolers, and school readiness
  • Holds knowledge of emotional, social, physical, etc.. development of children 0-5 years old and the experience/education to teach parents/guardians in parent education
  • Possesses a patient and supportive approach to the learning process (all aspects)
  • Comfortable in school model setting (parent education)
  • Must be enthusiastic, encouraging, and creative, and have a professional mannerism when working and speaking with adults and children
  • Has excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Has the ability to stand and move around for long periods of time while teaching, and can carry/ lift up to 50 pounds
  • Up to date on immunizations, including flu and COVID-19
  • Must pass a background check (DOJ Fingerprint clearance and Megan’s Law/ Sexual Predator Clearance”


This is an hourly position, starting at $30/hour pending experience. Approximately 25 hours per week.
